10 Bible Verses for Anxiety (KJV) and How to Pray Them
Share
Anxiety is common, and Scripture speaks to it honestly. These ten verses won't replace wise counsel or medical care when you need it, but they point anxious hearts to the God who cares. Read one slowly, then pray it back to Him.
1. Philippians 4:6–7
“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
Pray it: Name each worry, thank God for one thing, and ask for His peace to guard your mind.
2. 1 Peter 5:7
“Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”
Pray it: Picture handing each care to Him. He is not annoyed by your worries; He cares for you.
3. Matthew 6:34
“Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.”
Pray it: Ask for strength for today only.
4. John 14:27
“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
5. Isaiah 26:3
“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.”
6. Psalm 56:3
“What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.”
Short enough to say in the middle of a panicky moment.
7. Matthew 11:28
“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
8. Psalm 94:19
“In the multitude of my thoughts within me thy comforts delight my soul.”
For racing thoughts at night.
9. Isaiah 41:10
“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God…”
Read the full verse and its meaning.
10. Psalm 46:10
“Be still, and know that I am God…”
More on what “be still” means.
Make it a daily habit
